With Re_Work, by TextielMuseum, the design label of the TextielMuseum, launches its latest collection of sustainable table linen, created with Eindhoven-based design collective Envisions. Every two years, the TextielMuseum invites Dutch designers to develop new products that reflect its commitment to sustainability, craftsmanship, and innovation. As both a museum and a platform for textile knowledge and experimentation, it connects heritage with contemporary design. Developed in the TextielLab, the museum’s professional workshop, Re_Work grew from an intensive collaboration between the lab’s product developers and the designers of Envisions. Known for their research-driven and experimental approach, Envisions brings a bold, forward-looking perspective on circular design and material reuse.
The collection consists of tablecloths and runners woven from yarns spun by Spinning Jenny, a Dutch producer specializing in recycled yarns made from discarded workwear and denim. Each textile combines refined weaving techniques with the visible traces of reuse. Inspired by pellendamask — a humble yet timeless fabric from the museum’s collection — the design balances everyday functionality with subtle graphic detail. Smart cutting lines allow the fabric to be repurposed into cleaning cloths after use, extending its lifespan and minimizing waste. A digital product passport ensures full transparency about the materials and their origin, anticipating upcoming EU standards for traceable design.
Re_Work embodies the shared values of by TextielMuseum and Envisions — sustainability, craftsmanship, and transparency. It redefines how value and waste are perceived, showing how thoughtful collaboration can transform familiar materials into lasting expressions of care, renewal and responsibility.
