A Colorful Exploration of Society: Six Thematic Categories

The core of the editorial in Time Capture consists of interviews, each marked with a distinct color for easy navigation through different themes. Yellow is the consistent thread that runs throughout the editorial, symbolizing connection. The interviews are divided into six thematic categories. The category Faith explores antisemitism, Islamophobia, and diverse religious perspectives. Migration and Politics addresses migration experiences, political views, and societal challenges. The Environment category delves into climate change, ecological crises, and the future of the planet. Social topics cover inequality, homelessness, and family dynamics. Technology provides insights into artificial intelligence and the impact of technological advancements. Lastly, Identity reflects on queerness, discrimination, and personal identity. The interviews vary in length, offering a broad and nuanced understanding of pressing social issues.

Preserved Moments: Objects and Quotes as a Reflection

Time Capture is inspired not only thematically but also visually by the concept of a time capsule. A key element of the project are preserved objects that I collected as personal testimonies of our era. These "modern fossils" were cast in epoxy resin, photographed, and used as visual elements in the editorial, especially on the quote pages.
The quote pages feature striking statements from prominent and often polarizing figures such as Alice Weidel, Pope Francis, Kim Kardashian, and Donald Trump. The quotes are placed thematically alongside the interviews to provoke thought, challenge the reader, and reveal the tensions and contradictions of our time.
The combination of resin objects and quotes creates a visually engaging contrast that is sometimes humorous, sometimes serious. These objects appear not only in the editorial but also on the book cover as tangible relics of a complex era.
