The set of two tide rugs
Max Terpstra
They are large sculptural interactive rugs that are meant to be different than an ordinary rug is, the centrepiece of a room. Its structure underneath the rug is build to invite the user to use their bodies to enjoy the rug, as it can be used as actual furniture.
About Max Terpstra
Max Daniël Terpstra (1997) is a Rotterdam based tapestry designer and maker. By trying to find a balance between traditionally made rugs and their designs he tries to implement new forms and design inspired by those traditional artefacts and create a new and more contemporary pieces. Where emphasis is aimed towards the medium and shape, a contradiction can be found by the depicted arrangements on the rugs, bold colours and sharp flowing forms dominate and confront a soft and fluid fabric medium.
