Studiolo is a Vienna-based design studio. Our flagship product, snorre, turns old bed slats into unique, eco-friendly furniture. Each piece is handcrafted in Vienna in collaboration with social enterprises. Our mission is to redefine home design through sustainability and social responsibility.

Where Design Meets Sustainability: Our Circular Approach

The cornerstone of Studiolo's business model is our commitment to a circular design approach. Unlike traditional linear models that follow a 'take, make, dispose' pattern, we aim to keep resources in use for as long as possible. Our flagship product, snorre, exemplifies this by repurposing discarded bed slats into elegant, functional furniture. In collaboration with Vienna's MA48 waste management agency, we source these slats, which are then crafted by local social enterprises Caritas and Volkshilfe. By doing so, we not only extend the life of materials but also foster social impact and minimize waste. This circular approach has the added benefit of reducing our carbon footprint, as every aspect from sourcing to production is localized. We believe that the future of design is circular, and we are committed to leading the way in this sustainable revolution.

Pioneering the circular economy in the furniture industry

In 2021, Studiolo was born out of a vision to redefine home design. From the start, the mission was to create not just furniture but a lifestyle that marries sustainability with elegance. We began our journey by crafting a prototype—snorre—an upcycled, multifunctional furniture piece that embodied our values. Our initial presence at local design fairs wasn't just a sales venture; it was a platform for conversation, engagement, and fine-tuning our products based on genuine customer feedback. This grassroots approach helped us refine our designs and strategies, making us more than just a furniture brand. 2 years into the project, we became a known brand for circular design in Austria, have been featured in all main quality newspapers and many magazines.
