Grolsch and Water

Water is an essential ingredient in beer, which is why we must ensure that it remains available – now and in the future. We are constantly working on improving our water usage per hectoliter of beer. This means producing efficiently with less water. Additionally, we are taking various measures to safeguard the quality and availability of water for the future. Together with other regional parties, we are committed to the "De Twentse Golf" community to tackle water shortages in the Twente region. Our focus is on reducing water consumption and purifying and reusing wastewater from our brewery. Curious? In the Grolsch Lab, you'll learn all about our water initiatives!

Other Sustainability Initiatives

Our ambition? By 2030, we aim for 100% reusable and/or recyclable packaging. How? We’d love to share! Since 2023, our new crates have been on the market, where 98% of the material is recycled from old crates. This prevents the production of 4,200 tons of new plastic and saves approximately 7,000 tons of CO2 compared to crates made entirely from new material. Circularity is a top priority for us! Did you know that we can make festival trays from old crates? In addition, you’ll learn about our innovative TopClip packaging in the Grolsch Lab, which replaces the plastic wrap around cans. This saves over 100,000 kg of plastic annually! Moreover, the TopClip is ideal for collecting and recycling empty cans.
