Leather lights
Through a hands-on process of exploring the boundaries of the material, the leather wall lights were born. A year later, we're proud to present the second edition: a hanging light version, crafted using the same process as the original.
The Weight of the Hide
The weight of the hide is a series of products exploring the ethics of leather.
Working with leather inevitably comes with ethical and emotional complexities. That’s why, as a leather designer, Emma Werkhoven decided to take matters into her own hands. Guided by a Swedish hunter and local tannery, she chose to take responsibility for the life behind the material. Taking care of every step in the process, from hunting and skinning a wild boar, to leather tanning and design. The story is translated through the products and their passports, sharing every step of the process.
The offcuts
The Offcuts is a project still in development. While working at the tannery, Emma discovered how much leather the industry discards as waste the moment it leaves the tannery. With these overlooked pieces, she's now creating new designs that celebrate their natural inconsistencies and irregular shapes. The first piece in the series is a carpet, with many more applications to follow.
