Reduce electronic waste
Every year, more than a billion devices are thrown away because of one component: the battery. While the rest still works fine.
Leo solves this by charging devices more intelligently, extending the life of almost all electronics. Leo is the first product; the same software can also be integrated directly into manufacturers' own electronics. By making batteries and devices last longer with smart software and patented hardware, Liion Power reduces electronic and chemical waste. At scale, the technology can prevent more than 10 million tonnes of CO2e per year, roughly equal to 1.5 million return flights between Amsterdam and New York.
“If the whole of the Netherlands makes its devices last longer and uses Leo to charge its electronics, we can make real impact in everyone's daily life with a Dutch innovation.” - Jardo Stammeshaus, founder of Liion Power
Internationally awarded
Liion Power and its team have been awarded internationally several times. It started with the INNOVATE Award, which came with a trip to Silicon Valley. Next came the European Green Challenge, organised by the Dutch Postcode Lottery, worth 100,000 euro to develop Leo.
With Leo, Liion Power won innovation awards at the two largest consumer electronics events in the world: the CES Las Vegas Innovation Award and the IFA Berlin Innovation Award. At IFA, Leo also won the IFA Next x GICA Greentech Competition, a 50,000 euro media prize to promote Leo in Germany.
In the Netherlands, Liion Power is listed in the KvK Innovation Top 100 and in the top 10 of the Ondernemersverkiezing Noord-Holland. Leo also won the Best of Kickstarter award and raised 250,000 euro in pre-orders there.
Partnership with 123accu.nl
Liion Power and 123accu are joining forces to bring Leo to a wide audience in the Netherlands.
“Dutch innovations often leave quickly for the American or German market, because the Netherlands is small. We want to make Leo big as a Dutch product, and that starts at home”, says Jardo Stammeshaus, founder of Liion Power.
For years, 123accu has been focused on making devices last longer instead of replacing them. Where 123accu gives a device a second life with a new battery, Liion Power keeps the battery inside it healthier for longer.
123accu.nl is part of the group behind 123inkt.nl, one of the larger webshops in the Netherlands, and specialises in batteries, chargers and replacement parts for laptops, phones and tools. “Leo fits that perfectly: a battery needs replacing far less often. As launching partner we bring Leo straight to customers who deliberately choose a longer life for their devices.”, says Dinesh Jiawan of 123accu.
Leo is on sale through 123accu.nl from the end of October.
