How can research by design help us think about the future of our living environment? And what does the emergence of “digital futures” imply: how might technological developments shape the way we explore and design futures?
Over the past year, curators Jolijn Valk and Els Vervloesem, together with Platform Ontwerp NL, examined 100 completed design studies as part of the Spatial Design Action Agenda (ARO: a program of the Ministries of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and Education, Culture, and Science). The insights have been compiled in a guide titled 'Designing Our Future' and in the documentary 'Possible Futures', which premiered at the AFFR. This session takes that knowledge as its starting point.
Following a brief introduction and film clips, critical thinkers and designers will engage in a discussion with one another and with the audience. Using thought-provoking statements, we invite you to take a stand and contribute your ideas so that, together, we can delve deeper into thinking about the future.
