By introducing an everyday object, the staple, in traditional woodworking,
Filip Pista rethinks the way wood can be joined. With carefully
placed staples he constructs pieces which explore form and
structure. Unlike rigid joints or heavy hardware, staples offer a kind
of flexibility, allowing the wood to bend, shift, or layer. This freedom
enables the creation of sculptural forms, dynamic lines and subtle
tensions. By transforming a modest fastener into a central design
feature, Filip Pista turns a functional detail into a bold aesthetic language.
The staples do not hide; they trace lines, define curves and
create rhythms across the surfaces. This technique challenges the expectations
of craftsmanship and material hierarchy, inviting us to see
value in the ordinary.
Letting unexpected turns guide the way towards new ideas. Exploring with flexibility the staple technique brings. Accuiering a load of interesting pieces
of wood led to the discision of letting the shapes of the wood decide the form of the pieces. Unpredictable forms shape themselves during the process of
creating.
