The ceramic pieces act as receptacles, holding the energies of each planet. Creating timeless objects loaded with symbolism. My goal is to awaken curiosity, learning more about our inner landscapes. Accessing planetary energies as they exist and flow inside of us.

Ancient themes told through the voices of our planets

Just as our bodies are vessels, so too are my ceramic pieces. These ancient energies have many names and forms, inspired by: astrology, astronomy, and esoterica. The planets are made of organic matter that is found in humans. Such as: neurons, hormones, muscle, etc. Binding our inner worlds and that of our solar system.

I choose ceramic because of its ethereal nature. Crafting a delicate world of vulnerability. The fragility of the pieces are juxtaposed by the harsh metal allowing for polarities and multiple truths to exist. The idea behind the triangular construction is to mimic a prim. An object that separates light that comes from a single source. Creating multiple branches where the ceramic vessels reside.

The mysticism that comes from channelling the planets allows for curiosity and hopefully openness. Channeling anything extraterrestrial often opens philosophical questions. Our connection to our earth and beyond. My goal is to create intentionality and awareness to the subtle energies that correspond to each planet. The vessels allow for deeper introspection, exploration of self in relation to the world.

Design Perron was started in 2013 by Meike van Schijndel as an ad hoc Dutch Design Week location. In 2014, (interior) designer Alex Groot-Jebbink joined to help, and in 2015, with the addition of architect Marcel Klever, the Design Perron team truly took shape. Marcel stepped down in 2024 due to other commitments. Chris Ruhe has been a reliable support during setup for many years and will take on a major role within Design Perron starting in 2025.
