From everyday problem to brilliant design
For 100 years, HEMA has shown how good design can solve everyday problems in smart ways. From a candle-powered bicycle light for those who couldn’t afford a dynamo to a hot dog designed not to leak from the bottom. Today, a team of 30 designers works every day to create products that make life more practical, more beautiful and better.
To celebrate its 100th anniversary, HEMA challenged a new generation of design talent to do the same: come up with a smart solution to an everyday problem. From hundreds of entries, an expert jury selected ten promising finalists after several rounds of judging. During Dutch Design Week, their designs will be showcased at the HEMA stand. Come by, discover the stories behind the designs and get inspired by the design talents of tomorrow.

Vote for your favourite HEMA design
Your favourite could become the next HEMA product. Vote from 2 to 22 October at hema.nl/ontwerpwedstrijd. On 23 October, during Dutch Design Week, we’ll reveal the winning design and which one will earn a place in HEMA stores.
