Expanding the possibilities of Multylino
Jelmer Reus is a Dutch designer and furniture maker who investigates the potential of linoleum and explores new ways of using it as a structural material. Drawing on his background in furniture making, Reus developed Multylino: a self-developed sheet material made from reclaimed linoleum.
At Dutch Design Week, he presents two new additions to the Multylino collection: a lounge chair and a matching side table, shown at BuildingTT.
The new pieces build upon the form language of the BOCHT chair and the knowledge gained through its development. By continuing his material research and developing new techniques for working with Multylino, Reus explores how the material can be applied in new forms and constructions.
The lounge chair and side table mark a continuation of the BOCHT chair and an expansion of the Multylino collection. Together, they demonstrate the evolving possibilities of linoleum as a structural material through ongoing experimentation, craftsmanship and design.
