The shelving system #1470 makes knots visible again as simple yet highly functional connections. The focus is on the Blake’s Hitch, also known by the number #1470. This friction hitch from maritime practice securely holds the shelves in position and allows for stepless height adjustment.

Shelving System #1470

The modular shelving system #1470 uses simple but extremely functional knots as connecting elements, which originate from climbing and shipping. The idea for the shelving system was born during the exploration of knots and their benefits. Knots are probably as old as human history and have accompanied our everyday lives as tools and aids ever since. However, there are now a multitude of substitute products for most knots, which means that we rarely come into contact with them. Yet the knot is a simple and sustainable solution for a wide range of connection requirements and can be created using just hand and rope.
#1470 is designed to arouse interest in knots and at the same time challenge users. Dealing with the knots promotes the ability to abstract, spatial thinking and thus stimulates the human mind.
The focus of this shelf is Blake's Hitch. This clamping knot reliably holds the shelves in position and at the same time enables infinite height adjustment. Further knots ensure stability and expansion of the shelf. The use of ropes and knots makes the shelving particularly flexible and modular and can be integrated into a wide variety of room situations.
