Symbol of institutional power
The title ‘Table of Power’ refers to Jacqueline Hassink’s project *The Table of Power*, in which she photographed the boardroom tables of major multinationals as symbols of institutional power. Inspired by this work, SHOW NOT SHOW shifts the focus from representation to participation: rather than representing a table of power, SHOW NOT SHOW creates one — and invites people to take a seat.
But where does the power actually lie? In the people around the table? In those who decide what deserves attention? Or with those who determine what may — and may not — be discussed at the table?
Power to the people
Throughout DDW, visitors are invited to take a seat, take a position and become part of the conversation. The power is not in the table, but in taking a seat.
After all, if you are not at the table, you are on the menu.
