Martijn Gigengack is fascinated with shapes from the past. This time he explores the wonderful design of fossilised sea-creatures. In his Utrecht based studio he has turned stone into glass. The encapsulation with concrete creates an object that resembles a colorful geode.

Glass & Concrete

The interaction between glass and concrete is a love story. The way how light only partly finds a way through an object is a playful reminder of what may lay hidden beneath our soil.

Werkstatt Gigengack is the name of Martijn Gigengack's glass studio. Here he experiments with different casting techniques. Lately the 'Dalle de Verre' has taken a large role in his studio. The combination of glass and concrete is truly one that creates unique effects.
