Yara's world
Yaryna Kozel (26) is a Ukrainian creative working with visual culture, sustainable fashion and pole dance performance.
During DDW, Yaryna presents her first large-scale metal sculpture, shaped by her experience of living between Ukraine and the Netherlands during the war. At home, war is deeply physical, felt and shared with the people around her. Abroad, the same reality is experienced through a screen. The work explores this gap in understanding, the isolation it creates, and the feeling of constantly moving between two realities.
In Ukraine, she runs the charity initiative Yarbazar, focused on sustainable fashion and swap parties. For DDW, she is preparing a one-day swap party for design objects and art. To participate, follow the upcoming announcement on the Yarbazar Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/yarbazar/
She is also bringing the Ukrainian sustainable design project Anumoplastic to Eindhoven. They will present a new furniture piece exploring the connection between traditional Ukrainian carpentry and modern upcycled materials such as plastic.
Leoke's world
A visual artist and storyteller working with photography, large-scale installations and performance. With a great passion for metal, Leoke brings creativity into craftsmanship showing his latest furniture piece which is more then only a practical object.
For the Dutch Design Week, he will present his latest works at Studio YL27, a gallery he runs together with his partner, located directly alongside his metal workshop.
The exhibition offers more than a view of the finished pieces. Visitors are invited to step into the workshop itself and get a peek behind the scene, seeing where the works are made, exploring the tools and processes, and experiencing the environment in which the artist’s ideas are brought to life.
