Art gerecycled
Not many artists get the chance to recycle their own art into a new work. Onno: “In NS surveys, train passengers indicated that art contributes to their travel experience. I'm thrilled that NS wants to give my art back to passengers, but this time in the IJ passage in Amsterdam. The new project is still called Poetry of Stains. I chose the design of one of the five door handles and then enlarged it into a kind of Rorschach stain.” Onno cast this ‘stain’ at Make into large, individual bronze pieces that together form a 3 by 3 meter wall panel. Mistakes are a thing of the past at Make. Onno, too, sees the beauty in the unexpected. “Some works have to be very precise, but mistakes can also contribute to the character of a work of art. I love preserving everything that comes from the process. Seeing the ‘life’ of the casting reflected in my work; it's precisely those unexpected elements that make it.”
