An exhibition at Make Eindhoven in which three makers; Esra Westerburgen, Onno Poiesz, and Laura van Santen, demonstrate how reuse and material experimentation lead to new design and meaning.

New Work from Reuse: Glass, Textile, and Bronze

The three makers created their projects in the workshop of Make Eindhoven, where the focus lies on experimentation, craftsmanship, and material research. Make Eindhoven offers space for makers and brings themes like sustainability and reuse to the forefront in a world of continuous production.

Architect Laura van Santen initiated ‘Glass is not Nothing’ in collaboration with TU Delft, a project in which architects explore new applications for reused glass in architecture.

Esra Westerburgen created embossed prints from old garments, turning worn clothing into graphic reliefs.

Onno Poiesz melted down bronze door handles he once designed for Dutch Railways (NS) trains, which were removed due to the risk of theft; the reused material now forms the basis for a new artwork in the IJ-passage in Amsterdam.
