Vegetal Glass and Mother of Pearl transform plant matter and oyster shells into sustainable design. Made in France, they merge craft, ecology, and luxury into luminaires, vases, tableware, furniture, and accessories — functional art with ecological responsibility.

Local Bio - Materials

Vegetal Glass (R) and Mother of Pearl originate from a desire to transform overlooked local waste into sustainable, poetic matter. Vegetal Glass is a translucent bio-sourced compound, industrially compostable and developed from renewable plants. Unlike traditional glass, it avoids extraction and energy-intensive processes, creating transparency with minimal ecological impact. Its soft tactility and diffusion of light open new atmospheres. Mother of Pearl continues this philosophy by revalorizing oyster shells, waste from the shellfish industry, into shimmering iridescent surfaces. Together, they embody regeneration: matter reborn as material, where durability and beauty coexist with sustainability.

Craftmanship

The project is anchored in French craftsmanship, where precision and experimentation merge. Working with plant matter and oyster shells requires embracing irregularity. Instead of uniformity, each object gains singularity, shaped by the maker’s hand. Imperfections become elegance, transforming what was once waste into contemporary luxury. Here, luxury is not defined by abundance, but by time, care, and responsibility. By blending laboratory research with artisanal savoir-faire, Vegetal Glass (R) and Mother of Pearl form a dialogue between science and tradition. Craft is not surface embellishment, but the very process that transforms fragility into permanence, anchoring sustainability into tangible art.

Functional art

These materials take shape in objects that merge function with poetic expression. Luminaires diffuse light through the translucency of Vegetal Glass, creating atmospheres of softness and depth. Vases and tableware elevate daily rituals into ecological gestures, reconnecting use and responsibility. Small furniture and fashion accessories integrate the iridescence of nacre, reinterpreting luxury as care for ecosystems. Each object is more than a piece of design: it is a manifesto. Lamps illuminate ecological futures, vases embody the memory of place, accessories translate values of durability and craft. Through them, functional art becomes a medium for a new aesthetics of sustainability.
