Scrolling less sounds simple. Until you try it. Uitgescrolled brings young people together to talk about their scrolling habits and actually do something about them. Together, we explore small steps, smart tricks and ways to support each other.

Social media isn’t black and white

For young people, it can be a place for friendship, connection, entertainment and self discovery. At the same time, platforms are designed to keep our attention for as long as possible. Instead of telling young people to simply put their phones away, this interactive social design workshop explores how 14–25 year olds can build a healthier relationship with social media themselves together with their peers and the people around them.

A conversation starter

Through playful statements, physical activities and relatable scenarios, participants are invited to explore what they recognise, what they think and what advice they would give to a peer. I then help translate their insights into small, achievable actions they can try at home.

From design research to daily life

The workshop grew out of Digital Detoxery, my social design research into young adults' wishes and fears for the future of social media. After presenting the project at Dutch Design Week 2025 and winning the Social Design Talent Award, I started exploring how these ideas could be turned into practical tools.

Alongside the workshop, I am therefore developing a range of playful tools, including a practical tips booklet and a placemat designed to spark conversations about social media at home. Because a healthier relationship with social media doesn’t happen in a single workshop. It takes time, small steps and the people around you.
