While the city pulses with ideas, innovation, and creative energy, we invite visitors to step aside for a moment. Unplug is a short holiday between one project and the next. We reshape the raw, industrial space into a tactile environment.

The space between everything else

At the heart of Strijp-S, Plug In City transforms into something softer: a calm zone, a quiet landscape. Sand under feet, plants softening the edges, and simple structures to lean on or lounge in. There’s no program, no presentation—just an open invitation to take off your shoes, enjoy something sweet, and let go for a while. A gentle soundscape wraps the space in sea breeze and distant rhythms, creating a feeling of elsewhere. In a week filled with intensity and information, rest becomes a radical gesture. Unplug offers space to breathe, not as a rejection of design but as a way to fully take it in. Slowness helps us process, silence helps us listen, and moments of ease open space for reflection and real connection. Unplug suggests both a journey and a step aside—a soft detour within Dutch Design Week. It’s not the destination, but the pause along the way. Everyone is welcome. Come drift for a while, and let your mind wander.

Plug In City is a creative community established in a maker space in Strijp-S Eindhoven. We host cultural activities, events and a daily coffee spot where people meet, share ideas and connect. Built from reused materials, the space brings together architects, designers and artists working with circular principles. We design buildings, public space, interiors and furniture, and collaborate on music and fashion as part of our wider creative practice.
