Familiar Forms
The Wuerstelhocker translates the most recognizable elements of a sausage stand into functional seating. A bright red sausage becomes the seat, a wooden fork forms the base, and abstracted grill tongs become the legs. The stools can be nested and stacked together like a pack of sausages - a bold visual pun that refuses to take design too seriously. The result is instantly recognizable, functional and an incredible opportunity for a sausage joke.
Snack Culture
The project originated with Vienna’s iconic Wuerstelstand, a place where food and everyday social life naturally meet. Beyond the local reference, the stool celebrates what happens around street food anywhere: standing together, sharing a laugh, having a quick conversation, and moving on. Street food creates these informal moments all over the world, and the Wuerstelhocker turns that atmosphere into a piece of furniture.
