The Space that Talks back
The experience begins serenely as you enter a dark room and listen to a calm voice. Gradually, however, your sense of tranquillity shifts to unease, tension and even discomfort. There is no reset: every action you take influences the experience of those who come after you. In this way, you can tangibly feel how your individual choices, together, shape the world in which we live. The space is not a silent backdrop, but a conversation partner that responds and asks the question: ‘What kind of world do my choices leave behind?’
Inside the pavilion, visitors are immersed in an interactive experience that raises awareness of the complex challenges involved in shaping and governing our living environment. Three participants are each assigned a different role: policymaker, citizen, or expert and are invited to respond to a series of spatial and societal dilemmas from the perspective of their assigned stakeholder.
The collective decisions made by the three participants determine a final scenario: a possible future for the living environment that reflects the consequences of their choices.
The experience unfolds across three distinct environments, each representing a different phase of the journey and serving its own purpose in the process of awareness and decisionmaking.
The visitors leave the pavilion with a sense of uncertainty while also gaining a deeper understanding of the complexity behind creating the environments in which we live.
