Waste Carpet, Exposed Structure
The Carpete Chair challenges what defines upholstery by stacking leftover carpet from temporary event installations, transforming the material into a constructive volume for seat and backrest. Rather than concealing its structural logic, the piece embraces it: an exposed steel frame supports the layered carpet, positioned and secured with visible screws.
Construction Method
The construction method is direct and intuitive, allowing assembly to become part of the chair's formal language. By shifting carpet from a superficial covering to a structural and volumetric element, the project questions traditional expectations of upholstery in furniture.
Partnership
Developed through a partnership between the design studio Venetucci and the creative lab specialized in working with scenographic waste Virô, the Carpet Chair emerges from a shared investigation into the constructive potential of surplus materials, transforming what would otherwise be discarded into a new design narrative.
