For centuries, every home was different. Then we industrialized construction, and freedom was traded for cost-efficiency. House of Lights, a full-scale house printed by TAM, shows it can be different: built at scale, without standardizing the house.

The house

House of Lights is printed on machines TAM builds itself. The facade is one printed structure: no two panels are alike, the colour sits in the material, nothing is coated or painted. By day it reads as an archetypal house among the buildings of Strijp-S. After dark, it becomes something else.

The reversal

We don't believe houses should adapt to factories. We believe factories should adapt to architecture. TAM builds its own machines and software, so one construction method can create endless forms, layouts and structures, while remaining industrial, compliant and repeatable. Automation doesn't restrict form here. It enables it.

The house

House of Lights staat op het Ketelhuisplein: een huis op ware grootte, geprint in gerecycled kunststof op machines die TAM zelf heeft gebouwd. De gevel is één geprinte structuur, geen twee panelen zijn hetzelfde en de kleur zit in het materiaal zelf. Na gebruik is het huis volledig recyclebaar: hetzelfde materiaal kan opnieuw worden gebruikt om de volgende versie te printen.
