Discover what's already possible
In the exhibition we present new work within the Materials and Methods programme line and launch two major new multi-year programmes: Spons/LAB and Hoe Samen?!/LAB. In the labs we visualise our long-term research, you'll discover work by other designers and innovators, and we show where we stand and where we still want to go.
The HUB shows a broad audience what is possible now and in the near future. By once again working with storytellers throughout the exhibition, we make the experience even richer and more immersive for visitors. Alongside this, an extensive programme is aimed specifically at professionals from construction, infrastructure, government, education, nature, agriculture, and water. In this way we don't just present — we connect, and work together on new steps forward.
Hoe Samen?!/LAB
The Netherlands is building a great deal — and more and more parties are discovering that social innovation is the key to moving forward faster, smarter, and more sustainably. New ways of collaborating are emerging everywhere: fresh coalitions, shared ownership, renewed forms of participation, and contract models that make room for creativity and shared value.
The construction and infrastructure sector is full of knowledge, experience, and ambition. Municipalities, developers, builders, housing corporations, and residents each bring their own perspective. It's precisely that diversity that makes it possible to make projects richer, more inclusive, and more future-proof. When we reshape our roles and draw on each other's strengths, real innovation becomes possible.
The larger shift we're in the middle of is a social transition. The central question: Hoe Samen?!
In the Hoe Samen?!/LAB you'll discover our Library, featuring 24 real-world examples of social innovation in practice. On the inside, we run workshops and work with partners across Europe on concrete cases to tackle their social transition challenges.
We don't just talk — we act. Will you join us?
Spons/LAB
It's both too dry and too wet. The Netherlands needs to hold and make room for far more water, and we need everyone on board to get this right. In Spons/LAB we take you through our multi-year research into sponge function at every scale: from façade to building, from street to neighbourhood, and from city to country.
Central to the lab is our new model, Stad als Spons, developed together with the municipality of 's-Hertogenbosch and the Aa en Maas water authority. Together with our main partner Dura Vermeer, we also created a SponsKabinet, featuring stories and innovations that are already contributing to water solutions in construction and infrastructure today.
Come to the Melkfabriek and discover the wonderful contributions from the Waterambassade and the Waterkabinet to the Spons/LAB as well.
Various events and tours will take place throughout DDW. The full programme can be found through the website of Biobased Creations.
We hope to welcome you at our HUB!
